Gender Commute Gap | Uber

“Census data from India revealed that 3 in 5 working women don’t travel more than 1 km from their homes for work; even at the cost of a higher paying job. This is the Gender Commute Gap, an unheard of term, which is one of the primary reasons behind the Gender Pay Gap.
Uber brought this conversation alive and posed a simple question - why should distance get in the way of her dreams? The brand doubled down on its commitment by influencing policy decisions. As Creative Director and script writer for the film, the content partnerships and the first white paper on this subject in India, it felt surreal when the ‘Gender Commute Gap’ was featured by the IFC in their Digital2Equal initiative.
IFC is an arm of the World Bank, and the Digital2Equal initiative covers 17 case studies globally, where technology is empowering women and opening up economic opportunities.
